About
“Structuring Minds for the Future Filled with Knowledge”
Welcome
Dear families and friends, welcome to New Greater Bethlehem Temple We Care Child Development Center. In partnership with the state of Michigan’s Great Start Readiness Program, we strive to provide children with an excellent educational experience. As your child’s primary role model and first teacher, we look forward to partnering with you to develop your child’s foundation for life-long learning.
Curriculum Statement
We Care Child Development Center GSRP utilizes the High Scope curriculum. High Scope is a researched based and proven curriculum based on the 40 year study of the Perry Preschool Project. The curriculum uses an Active Learning approach where children are involved in direct, hands on experiences with people, objects, ideas and events. Adult-Child Interaction involves adults observing and interacting with children at their level to discover how each child thinks and reasons. The Learning Environment is arranged in clearly defined interest areas with easy to read labels that enable children to find, use, and return the materials they need in order to explore, invent, and learn about their world. The Daily Routine includes a plan-do-review process which gives children the opportunity to pursue their own interests, make plans, follow through on them and reflect on their experiences with peers and adults. Through the use of High Scope’s Key Developmental Indicators and in partnership with families, individual developmental goals are created for each child. The teaching staff and families work together to ensure each child is successful.
